In 2016, on the occasion of an IVAM exhibit called “Between Myth and Horror”, the innovation of a dialogue between artists from different disciplines such as painting and photography was introduced using a common denominator: The theme of the Mediterranean Sea.
Vicente Martínez Sanz, Joaquín Sorolla and Pablo Picasso, along with other artists who had their own personal visions, brought to life the intrinsic dialectic of the Mediterranean Sea: “Between Myth and Horror”. The sea is as much a locus for happiness as it is for the interchange between civilizations, as well as for death, inequality and conflict. From this perspective, each of the artists in the exhibit demonstrates their nostalgic and poetic vision of all of the cultural richness that unites and dis-unites all of us who live on its shores.
